i think so, too

I was in Barnes & Noble the other evening and I saw this piece of artwork. I instantly loved it. About 5 minutes later, I took it to the cash register and purchased it. It's now in my office.

There are certain times in life when I see something and I am instantly in love. It could be a pair of shoes, a piece of dessert, or a quality in a person. It happens just enough to keep life exciting... and when it does, I almost always take some sort of action. Whether I buy it, eat it, or become inspired by it, something happens. Sometimes, I can't buy it or eat it, but I can always choose to be inspired. That has no price tag. In fact, I am at my best creatively when there is some sort of meaning to my madness, and often that comes in the way of enlightenment from others or life in general.

I agree with Andy Warhol. I think everybody should like everybody. It is not that everyone has to be best friends, or even friends at all. But it is of my belief that within every individual lies authenticity and potential, and we do a good thing when we see that instead of the negative. You may ask, how can we like those who seem plain evil? To which I respond, hate the sin, not the sinner. It is our hearts of love and our spirits of true joy that may speak God's Truth.

Love you all.

I think it's a nice idea, but I have to disagree with you. I think it's more complicated than that. If someone intentionally brought harm to someone in my family, I would have a really hard time liking them. Or take Hitler...I don't think there is anything likable about him. But God does tell us to "Love one another" and I think that "love" can be translated into prayer. I could pray for an evil person, but I don't think I could like them. Does that make sense?

Jill- Yes, I see what you mean. In fact, I think Andy Warhol's statement could have better said, "I think everyone should love everyone." And while we may never come to necessarily "like" someone for one reason or another, we can love them as a living breathing soul through prayer. A minister in my church always used to say, "If you don't like someone, pray for them." In doing that, it's not as though I had a sudden urge to become their very best friend (i.e. "liked" them), but I cultivated a heart of love for that soul and a better attitude about the person.

I must say, I tend to be a bit of an idealist. :) I truly wish everyone could like everyone but I am aware that there is too much evil and sin in the world for that to take place.

Thanks for your comment-- it brought a nice perspective. Good thoughts!

Like Jill said, God tells us to love one another. With God's grace and spirit in us that is possible. But I'll have to say I definitely do not like everybody. A lot of occupations and situations allow you to see people that don't deserve "liking" or respecting them...but we do have to love them. But then again, I'd say I'm a realist! P.S. I drove past the house you're looking at, cute! The Lord will provide if the time is right! :)
